ISLAND LIFE - PART 3

on gabriola island, there is a farmers market
held on saturday mornings.

my friend is obsessed with this bread stick that is stuffed with feta and sun-dried tomatoes.
so naturally, our first stop at the farmers market was
the slow rise bakery stand.

there we bought 5 sticks of this feta/sun-dried tomato bread,
and just for kicks we got a pumpkin/white-choco/raison scone.

after taking a stroll around the market, we quickly booked it to this beach and dug into this scrumptious bread.

my friend is right, this bread is definitely one of a kind.
(the scone was delicious too)

after heading back home, we decided that we will attempt to make this feta/sun-dried tomato bread by the end of this summer!

hopefully it won't be some catastrophic disaster.

stay tuned...

ISLAND LIFE - PART 2

1. this is an alpaca
2. sunset at it's prime
3. two hooligans on a rock
4. dreary eerie morning
5. abstract?
6. bff's?

is it true that the older you get,
the faster that time goes by?

this summer has literally been slipping
through the ends of my fingertips.
i can't seem to get a grasp on it.

it's making me realize how fast-lived our lives our.
we are just like water particles running down a river bank;
there's no stopping us.

i fear that one day i’ll get old and
realize that there were more things that
i should have done, should have seen, or should have said.

so i guess all i can do right now
is make the most out of each day.
-learn and grow.
-enjoy and savour.
-laugh and smile.

ISLAND LIFE - PART 1

1. coolest lamp i've ever laid my eyes upon
2. nothing better than some german yodeling
3. thrifting at it's finest
4. look at that fine view
5. dayum

i went to my friends cabin on gabriola island again this summer.

this little island is packed with a ton of mesmerizing views and quirky attractions.

what we did:

-we took embarrassing videos of us dancing hcore
and squashing spiders (how cruel of us)

-we went to this recycle depot and found
heels and booties for $1!! (best day ever)
and i got memoirs of a geisha for $0.50!! (p.s. great book)

-we had a lovely quinoa dinner by the ocean accompanied by some bumping tunes

-we strolled along the beach with this random kitty-cat on a rainy morning and sang low by flo rider in a
very obnoxious manner

-we took a 2 hour nap just because we could

-we visited some alpaca's and miniature horses

-we watched our fav movie he's just not that into you for the bagillionth time and went gaga over
ben affleck and jennifer aniston

it was nice being able to get away from the city
with my hommie, and spend a carefree weekend not having to worry about work.

"sometimes the bestest of things,
comes from the bestest of places."
-some random kook

JAPAN PART 12 - STEP BY STEP

i'm a dweeb.

i know.

who takes multiple pictures of their feet?

i do.

anyways,
this is the last post on my trip to japan!

it has taken me way longer than i expected,
and it is a relief that it is finally complete.

yes japan is an awesome place,
and i highly recommend everyone to go visit.

however my opinion is biased.

the people who i spend my time with during my trips to japan make every moment memorable.

my cousins, grandparents, family friends;
they always find ways to make me feel like
japan is my home away from home.

and i have lots of love for
my momma who is a great travel partner.

this trip taught me that each moment of our lives;
sad, humorous, exciting, etc,
can make us grow and better ourselves.

i also came to a realization that there is this certain unfathomable magical purpose in each brief encounter and simple conversation.
life is such a strange thing,
hard to put into words.

isn't there a saying called carpe diem?
well let's seize the day
and walk this path called life with big smiles.

:)

more new posts to come!

JAPAN PART 9 - TAKE ME BACK

just looking at these pictures makes me feel nostalgic.

i.want.to.go.back.

i want to be surrounded by warm air.

i want to walk along rice fields.

i want to hear the trains passing.

i want to gaze at miles and miles of mountainous green-ness.

i want to feel the cool breeze of the asian sea.

there's something about travelling that
makes life seem more exhilarating.

you see roads, trees, buildings differently.

everything is so captivating.

maybe that's the beauty of being young.

so many things unseen.

so many things that excite our minds.

-cheers to youth and living life

JAPAN PART 6 - MORE FUKUOKA

1. inside a 13 floored shopping center
2. beauty japanese fan display at the loft
3. mothers day flower stand
4. hipster cafe/store inside a mall
5. funky store in underground shopping center
6. underground shopping center

the tenjin train station in fukuoka happens to have an awesome underground shopping center (shown in the last picture).
this underground shopping center is then connected to multiple department stores/malls (shown in the first picture)
so that = mega shopping.
i witnessed many cute store fronts, and the insides were organized like art pieces.

if you're gonna go to japan, it may be a good idea to come with an empty suitcase since the shopping is overwhelming.
i am almost certain that if you visit japan, you won't
be leaving empty handed.

to get more info on fukuoka and the shopping

JAPAN PART 1 - FLIGHT

i have returned back home from my trip to japan!

my mum and i got to spend time with my family in the small city of oita for the first time in years. two planes and two train rides later, i finally arrived at my grandparents house in oita (located on the south eastern part of japan). this trip marked my sixth time in oita. it felt really nostalgic seeing my grandparents and cousins, walking along the same fields and railroads, and smelling the same scent of sweet bread and burning incents that i recall from my childhood.

i couldn't have asked for better weather; it rained twice during the three weeks i was there, and the temperature was comfortably warm! the food was great; everything was fresh and the prices were very reasonable. the shopping never disappoints in japan; many stores are filled with an abundance of cuteness. the list can go on and on about how amazing japan is. it is definitely a place to go visit at least once in a lifetime.
however i do warn that it gets ridiculously hot in some places during the summer. from what i remember it gets scorching hot in oita from june-august however april-may consists of mostly perfect conditions.

the pictures above were taken 1000's of meters off the ground:

the first picture was taken on the plane from vancouver to narita, and it happens to be of vancouver!

the second to fourth picture was taken on a plane headed back home from fukuoka to narita. as you can see in pictures three to four, there are plenty of rice fields in japan.
rice is nice.

more pictures from my trip to japan will be posted
so stay tuned!

:)
